·        TSC Meeting – October 9, 2010 – Door Prize Drawing!

Don’t forget your cash or checkbook for the October 9^th TSC meeting in Fort Worth!  We’ll have a raffle drawing for an iPod Shuffle with all proceeds going to the SHRM Foundation.  Tickets will be $5 each or 5 for $20.  Knock out a Christmas gift a little early or enjoy it for yourself!

·        Students and Advisors Scholarships – Application Deadline October 15, 2010

More than $50,000 will be awarded in education (undergrad and grad) and certification scholarships to SHRM Student Members and Advisors.  Applicants must be SHRM student members with an active membership as of October 15^th and a valid SHRM ID number.  Click here for more information.

·        Scholarships for SHRM Members – Result Notifications by October 30, 2010

All 2010 applicants for the Foundation scholarships for SHRM Members (application deadline was July 15^th) will be notified of the results by October 30, 2010.  A new application period will open April 1, 2011.

Head’s up!  If you’re attending the SHRM Leadership Conference in November 2010, you won’t want to miss the SHRM Foundation auction.  It’s stocked with a ton of great gifts, for yourself or just in time for Christmas presents!  P.S. And be on the lookout for the TSC’s donation to this event!

·        Donate by December 31^st!

The Foundation especially values contributions from the leaders of chapters and state councils as these donations are a strong demonstration of our commitment to the future of HR.  We encourage all of our TSC members to donate to the SHRM Foundation.  Our goal is a clean sweep of 100% participation!  You can donate online or by fax or mail, whichever you prefer, but please remember to donate by December 31^st to be recognized for 2010.  Click here for more information or to donate today.  Note that all donations of $25 or more will be listed in the Foundation's annual “Honor Roll” brochure.  If you’ve already given a donation in 2010, thank you!

·        Hope You’re in Shape with SHAPE!

Note that in order to qualify for any award level on the SHAPE, a chapter must make a monetary contribution from the chapter’s funds to the SHRM Foundation in 2010 (please note – you’ll be asked to provide the dollar amount of your donation).  Or, take it a step further and become a Chapter Champion!  See the SHAPE planning document for further information.  Take a look at the attached spreadsheet to see where your chapter is on giving to date.

·        What Exactly is the SHRM Foundation?

For all of the newcomers or for those who are still asking “What exactly is the SHRM Foundation?” here’s a little info…  The SHRM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with SHRM.  It relies on the contributions of individuals, chapters, state councils and organizations to provide grants, scholarships, research, publications and educational initiatives to further advance the Human Resources’ profession.
